This is where it lives now: Final Part

I woke the kids at 6:45 am.

It was a Wednesday and they would be going to school.

I would go to work, and we would all attempt to have a normal, undisrupted day.

I first took them to my ex-husband’s house where I knew they could find clean clothes. He had known there was an incident the night prior, but he didn’t ask for details as long as I assured him the kids were safe.

They changed faster than I thought they would.

It was 7:15am…

Too early to drop them off at school and I know we can’t stay at home tonight. If there’s any good time to stop by the house and try to avoid conflict with David it would be now. IF he’s awake, he’s less likely to be drunk and any conflict will be easier to handle.

I asked the kids if they wanted to quickly drop by the house and gather some things we would need over the next few days. I explained my reasoning about why I thought we should do it sooner rather than later. I gave them the option of telling me what they needed from the house and I would go by myself later that morning if they didn’t want to go.
