I saw you standing in front of a house with beautiful windows and doors.
Sunlight streaming through the curtains
warming the hardwood floors.
It was safe and warm, or so that it seemed.
I began to look closer, inspecting the seams.
Many people were there, moving in and about.
Happily bustling and visiting without
even noticing the scorch marks painted over and hid.
Duct tape overlaid with strategic objects to rid
the place of the appearance of flaws.
But hey, what is a home without a few scars?
So, in I came and made myself at home
It was comfy and cozy and oh so warm!
I’d been waiting my whole life for a feeling like this
And then you came to me and sealed my presence with a kiss.
Now, this was my home to share with the others
A love and support in all kinds of weather
But soon I could feel the cold through the walls
Seeing cracks in the foundation….The house….
was beginning to fall.
