I’m Trying Something New

Writers for Recovery provides writing workshops, trainings, and talks to recovery groups, residential treatment facilities, and recovery organizations. We help people discover the power of the written word to process trauma, build self-esteem, and support healthy, sustained recovery”.

I follow WFR on Twitter and often participate in their 7-minute writing exercises in which they provide the prompt and I take 7 minutes to fill in the rest.

I’m trying something new…..

I’m trying to not judge myself.

It’s not going so well.

When I struggle, I want to understand why.

I NEED to understand why….

Why is this so hard?

Why do I have to be like this?

If I was just different, then I wouldn’t be struggling.

Don’t be ridiculous, you know that’s not true.

If you weren’t struggling with this, you’d be dealing with something else.

It’s always SOMETHING

Okay…. it’s okay that I’m struggling.

But I HATE it!

No shit Sherlock, no one LIKES struggling.
